This has been a great week for America, folks! The Democratic Party took control of both chambers of congress. This will have a few affects. First off, the Democrats say they will allow the Republicans to have more power and access than they did as a minority. However, Republicans promised the same thing 12 years ago. I really dont' know how true the Democrats will be to that, but if they can put their politics and partisanship aside and truly allow the Republicans some access than Democracy may prevail, even if it may hurt the Democratic Agenda.
Secondly, Bush has promised to be bipartisan, but already you can see signs of problems. First off, he has already got a bunch of Conservative legislation he's trying to pass through this lame duck congress. Secondly, the Democrats have said they want to have a phased withdrawal of Iraq, but Bush seems adamantly against that. This comes four days after election day, and the new congress hasn't even taken control yet. I can see quite a few veto's down the line.
However, I also think Bush will sign a lot of bills and claim them as his own political vitocies. This will cause the President's approval rating to rocket. I think his numbers will go up in the next two years without the Republican controlled congress. However, I am scared the Democrats won't be able to follow through with a lot of the legislation they want to fullfill. They only have a very slight majority in the Senate, which will complicate things. However, this could be used as a campaign against the Republicans. I'm not sure how it will all play out, I just can't wait for the next two years to occur when it comes to politics. :)

GET OUT THE VOTE!
I will be gone all day tomorrow working at polling places. I urge all of you reading to get out and VOTE! tomorrow. Republican, Democrat, doesn't matter. Vote. And if you're not old enough to vote, at least go out and volunteer. Anyways, that's all I have. And oh yea, my birthday was on Saturday. I'm 16--whoo hoo.
